We congratulate Emanuel Salinas Muñoz, alumnus of the Accounting Undergraduate Program at ITAM, for his appointment as World Bank Country Manager for Iraq, being the first Latin American to represent this institution to the Middle East. In his new role, Emanuel will be in charge of leading the high level dialogue with the iraqi government and managing a project portfolio and assistance for more than three billion dollars, oriented to economic, social and politic recovery of Iraq.
With over 20 years of trajectory in the World Banks, Emanuel has held key positions, like Country Manager for Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro, as well as representative for the development of the financial and private sector for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. He also led macroeconomic, competition, employment and battle against poverty programs in South Asia, with special focus in Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
Before his career in the World Bank, Emanuel worked for Standard & Poor’s, where he started as Bank Analyst in Mexico. His trajectory in S&P led him to occupy positions like Manager in Quantitative Analysis Tools Development Manager for Europe, Associate Director of Structured Finance for Europe and North America, and Associate Director of Banking Advisory in key markets such as Germany, France, UK, Spain and Scandinavia.
